16 May 2008 Night Trip, Lone Star Lake

After a quick drive to the lake we set in the water ~ 730pm. We first tried a shallow grassy area ~ .25 mile from the ramp. My first cast with this new baitcast reel resulted in, you guessed it, B-A-C-K-L-A-S-H !!! BACK TO ACADEMY WITH YOU, SCOURGE OF A REEL!!! I thought we might be in for a slow night, but things picked up after we visited the other side of the lake (see below).

These are the "keepers" from our first night trip. We trolled in the vicinity of our so-called regular spot. the upper-most cat is the fish I caught, the last one of the night before returning to the ramp (~ 12am). On a sidebar here you'll notice I also have little fish on the stringer. This, I believe, is a result of some subconscience belief that if I keep these fish on a stringer until I'm finished I won't re-catch them...

This is your typical above-average teenage boy pretending to look tough and manly. What he DOESN'T want to admit is he's buckling under the tremendous weight of 2 unforgiving pregnant lady catfish with an intense desire to go back from whence they came (just kidding, son)...
